We think that 2013 will be the year of social gambling, when online casino sites start to incorporate certain technologies most usually found on social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Zynga, the Facebook game developer, will be entering the pay to play online gambling market, by launching their own online casino, very soon. We think that Zynga will pave the way for a whole range of top online casino sites to start offering social gambling. So we come up with some ways we would like to see this happen.

Firstly, we want to see social gambling incorporate the whole idea of social contacts. By this, we mean that you can build a friends list of other online casino players, and swap bonuses and awards with them. We also want to see full chat and messaging capabilities for this list, and also the automatic updating of statuses with big wins etc.

Next, we want to see private online slot tournaments. We envisage this working by a group of players electing to play a certain video slot game, for a certain amount of time, or a certain number of spins. Each player will add to the prize pool. These video slot tournaments would be something like sit and go online poker tournaments.

We also want to see multi player online slot games being developed. Possibly with some kind of teaming up required to tackle bonus features. The more players teaming, the higher the pay outs would be. This would also allow social gambling groups to target specific progressive jackpot online slot games, and then share the progressive jackpot win equally if awarded. Or possibly dividing the progressive jackpot based on the amount wagered by each team member. Actually we love this idea.

Finally, we want to see the ability added for players who are socially connected via this kind of social gambling site to be able to transfer casino funds between each other, so that they can help each other out if their bankrolls get a little deflated.

These are just a few ideas that we have come up with for how social gambling could make video slot play a lot more fun.
