Amaya Goes Mobile

February 15, 2012

Just two weeks ago we predicted that mobile slots will be one of the hottest new technologies of 2012. Look around you, there are so many smartphone and pad computer owners in the Western world that ignoring them as potential customers for online casino operators would be foolhardy. Sure, these people could play at online casinos which offer online slots across an Adobe Flash platform, but this is less than a perfect solution.

Amaya Gaming Group, based in Canada, has just announced that their iGaming platform is almost ready for deployment. This will allow online casino operators to deliver online slots developed specifically for Google Android and IOS the operating system found on the iPhone and iPad range of devices.

Initially, Amaya will be making many of its most popular online slots games available as mobile slots. However, there are plans to deploy live dealer casino games in the future, with the help of their trading partner Ho Gaming. Amaya will also be making other casino games available on their iGaming platform such as blackjack and bingo.

A spokesman for Amaya has stated that the company recognizes the importance of iGaming, and is committed to developing a secure and robust platform for mobile online gamblers.

If Amaya do manage to pull off the integration of live dealer games into their new iGaming platform, they will be the first online gambling platform developer to do so, and this could be a major coup. Live dealer games became very popular in 2011, and being the first to bring them to the mobile market could well win Amaya a massive market share of this so far untapped source of customers.

Surely any online casino operator which is keen to exploit the growing popularity of mobile computing needs to take a long hard look at this new offering from Amaya. Sure, other companies have mobile gaming platforms already in place, but none of them offer the level of integration and features which the new Amaya iGaming platform will ship with on launch.

However, it must be said that so far we have seen no live demonstration of many of the features which Amaya are claiming the iGaming platform will include. Whether the launch of this new mobile product in the second quarter of 2012 will include everything Amaya are touting as a feature or not remains to be seen. Out best guess is that they will begin with online slots and then add to the platform over time.
