Playtech in Spain

July 12, 2012

Playtech seems to have been in the news more than any other online casino platform developer this week, as we have bought news of its launch on the London Stock Exchange, the impending release of its brand new mobile slots platform, and now we get to tell you that Playtech has forged ahead with several key new licensing deals in the emerging Spanish online gambling market.

Earlier this week Playtech distributed press releases which announced a significant number of online casino launches which had signed to use the Playtech online casino platform operating within Spain. This ties in quite sensibly with the fact that in June, the Spanish Government issued a whole bunch of new online gambling licenses to prospective online casino operators, and it seems as if Playtech positioned itself tactically to pick up these newly legalized trading partners ahead of the competition.

Mor Weizer, Playtech, who is the CEO of Playtech, has stated that they (Playtech) were excited to see their licensees launch in Spain. He was confident that Playtech’s innovative and fully compliant casino and poker products would set the standard for others to follow in Spain. He also added, “The Spanish market is important to Playtech and a benchmark within the European regulated environment.”

Playtech has also recently been linked with some changes in Asian online gambling, and if rumors are true the company is strategically positioned to mop up after any (expected) changes to online gambling legislation in major Asian countries, in fact this is much the same thing as the company has just done with the Spanish market.

We made a comment in a news post some weeks back, that we believed that Playtech (along with Net Entertainment and Cryptologic) was losing ground to the ever successful Microgaming. We would now like to rescind that comment in the light of the truly startling happenings which have occurred involving Playtech in the last few weeks, this includes the impending launch of the new Playtech mobile slots platform, and the fact that floating the company’s stock on the London Stock Exchange may well attract major investors. So well done Playtech, we had dubbed you the underdog earlier in the year, we are now stating that we were wrong.
