New Jersey Says Yes to Online Gambling

December 22, 2012

Earlier this week, the New Jersey Assembly put its seal of approval on a prose change to gambling legislation that would allow real world casinos in Atlantic City to begin accepting bets online. This would be legal not for only New Jersey residents, but for residents of any state or country where online gambling is legal. This proposal will now for to the Senate for scrutiny, and hopefully approval.

Initially the New Jersey Assembly was focusing its plans purely upon sports betting, but it came under some heavy fire from sporting associations, who believed that allowing sports betting online would begin to corrupt their respective sports. So the assembly opened up its proposal to include all types of online casino games, and all forms of online gambling. However, these services would only be legal to use of they were supplied by an existing casino operator in Atlantic City.

Although this is another positive move towards the legalization of online gambling in the USA, in much the same way that the Nevada Gaming Control Board has helped the cause in recent months, we are still a long way off seeing fully nationally legal online casino sites across America.

There is still a whole body of opposition, from all sides, that are set against any form of legalized online gambling in the USA. However, we also have to note that it is pretty evident that the US Government has begun to realize just how much tax revenue it is losing out on each year, by forcing its citizens to use off shore online casino sites. So it really can only be a matter of time before money drives the law, and we see online gambling become a respectable and fully accessible industry within the borders of North America, so let’s look forward to this happy time to come!
